It might sound controversial, but poor shots should be punished in one way or another. If you end up on this slope and the green is running well, no chip on earth is going to stop close to the hole unless the pin is the opposite side of the green which is rare. At my club in real life, theres a spot off the back of 5, a par 3, where theres a steep slope up and off the green. In those instances, you’d have to blame the previous shot. Some chip shots on the game may well be impossible to get right, say that delicate 6 yard chip down a slope where it will always run a country mile past the hole. I’d prefer to be 65-70 yards so I can finesse one on and get it fairly close with my lob wedge. I have holed out a 40 yard chip with a 7 iron but from 45 yards, its not a great option to chip with what would be maybe a 6 iron and even less so to hit a partial pitch with a lob wedge. If I’m left with a 45 yard shot in real golf, I will struggle with that partial shot as it’s not a pitch shot with any club, neither is it a chip for me. Meandmygolf asked Dustin Johnson what shot he’d play from 50 yards and he said he’d never leave 50 yards and he’d prefer to play from 60 yards and I can relate. I think the difficulty is around about right since partial shots in real life can be extremely difficult. I play 2K on Legend difficulty with many aids turned off except green grid and elevation.
